The Recovery Begins in Minot

As of July 18, the Souris River through Minot, North Dakota, officially dropped below flood stage for the first time since mid June. The clean up and recovery from this flood of record has been going on for a number of weeks now and it’s not going to be easy. The short videos below are a good demonstration of that.

What struck me as I watched the driving clip was the ground and the effect on the vegetation. It’s either covered, dead or entirely stripped away. In the second clip you can see that the man’s house appears to be beyond mere repairs. Don’t forget about these folks as they try to piece life back together in the aftermath of massive flooding.
