Bangkok: Opening the Floodgates

Thailand is opening more and more flood gates to attempt to relieve pressure and flush a higher volume of water towards the sea. The full volume of flood waters still hasn’t fully hit Bangkok and already certain floodwalls are failing. As you can see in the videos below, there is simply too much water to deal with it all. They can continue try to protect the Central Business District (CBD) but doing that could be just fighting the inevitable and causing more flooding on poorer parts of the city.

They’re still expecting the worse to hit within the next day or so but it’s difficult to see what information they’re basing that on. Keep an eye on the flooding over the weekend as it’s almost definitely going to get worse. Here’s is another good news clip from Aljazeera: Bangkok residents brace for floods
