Severe Flooding in Bolivia and Colombia (Footage)

Map picture

This past week parts of Bolivia and Columbia have experienced some damaging floods due to heavy rains. In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, they received about 107mm (~4 inches) in a day, which equates to their average for the entire month of March. The flooding damaged their largest airport and the Chimore River overflowed its banks.

I couldn’t find any numbers for the flooding in Colombia outside of the footage. The worst flooding is in the western district of Choco but 6 other districts have been affected as well. They’re entering their worst months of the year (winter) but the heavy precipitation was extreme and their drainage systems have been overwhelmed.
